Ria was happy that she was here with Danni. Estatic, even. She loved being in the same school as Danni. She was glad she could go talk to her any time she wanted to. That didn't make her happy about switching schools, though.
Victoria was shy. Painfully shy. She wasn't good at making friends, at all. Back at her old school, she had made two good friends at an early age, two friends who had stuck with her for years, through everything she had been through. How was she supposed to make new friends now?
She had a couple friends here - Fred, James, Dominique, Lucy, Molly, and even Roxy - but she hadn't spoken to any of them yet, she didn't even know if they knew she was here (besides Fred, she had written to him and told him.) She also had Danni.
Danni was great, Ria counted Danni as her very best friend. But Ria couldn't spend her last year of school hanging out with her way - older half - sister. She needed to have at least a couple of good friends, or what happened to her in fifth year was going to happen again.
So she didn't understand why she had decided to sit out here, far from everyone else, underneath a little tree next to the Black Lake. Her jean clad legs were sticking straight out in front of her, no shoes on her small, pale feet. Her back was leaning against the trunk of the tree, probably getting pieces of bark all over her gray jacket.
She was watching people. People that were talking to their friends. People that were studying with their friends. People on dates. People that weren't lonely, like her. It was only her second day at Hogwarts, and yes, she was already lonely. She could, of course, go spend time with Danni, but her sister had a job to do, and she had already stolen all day yesterday from her sister's work. Once again, she cursed herself for being shy. If she wasn't so shy, she could just walk up and start talking to any of these groups of people, even make a friend or two with her pleasant personality. But no, she was stuck here, watching them with envy.

Jakob walked out of the forrest and then out along the bank of the lake. It wasnt very obvious why the Norse-boy had been in a place that was full of nasty creatures that liked to tear humans to shred, but then again hogwarts did have its upsides. Upsides that included relationships, something he had regarded as a both the last six years. No one ever wanted the weirdo who roamed around playing a violin randomly, or wearing a suit. Those that did want him, used him for their own needs, mostly alcohol.
A breeze struck up and his eyes looked out. The colder it got the lighter they got, and they were curently a soft milky blue. It was a shade that a dogs eyes get to be as they grow old, filling them with blindness. His signature idiot grin struck up as he fixed the violin strapped to his back, the tuning nubs poking his butt.
The blue eyes glanced up at a lone girl sitting by a tree. She looked so alone and depressed. He walked up slowly and leaned against the tree. "Bună" The word was one of the first he ever heard from his grandmothers family, a tribe of gypsy down in Romania

Ria looked up to see a rather large boy saying hello to her in, she believed, Romanian. "Zdrasti." She greeted him in Bulgarian, pulling her legs in to wrap her arms around them. "I'm Bulgarian, sorry. I'm not very good at Romanian, actually." She said, her strong accent causing her English words to slur a bit.
Victoria eyed the boy, taking him in. He was very big, in a tall and muscular way, with blonde hair and blue eyes. Something was on his back, something that looked very familiar to her. "Is that a violin?" She asked with a bit of excitement, then blushed when her shy self started to kick in.

Jakob looked to his back and smiled, pulling the old wooden instrument off his back, an ancient family emblem on the back of it. He sat down next to her, his grin one full of pride. When he spoke again, it was in Bulgarian 'То е действително a цигулка , един този е вероятно стар отколкото този училище" " It is indeed a violin, one that is probably older than this school" His accent matched her regions perfectly, each inflection and gesture of the lips. Jakob had a gift for speech, though he had no idea why. "Im Jakob, you?" He asked holding out a hand to shake.
The girl was cute, a little timid, but cute. She had a strange familiar glow about her, that just seemed to confound him. He didnt know her, but maybe someone that looked like her... but who? He shrugged it off, pulling out the bow. The strings sang out lightly, a soft tune filling the air.
(Ok so that little trick with speech is a translator, lets just say when he speaks in green its bulgarian, cause i dont wanna go back and forth with that thing)

((Purple=Bulgarian))
Ria watched him with the violin, and after a moment she held her hands out for it. "May I?" She asked, taking the violin from him without an answer. She ran her fingers down the instrument delicately, taking extra care when she neared the strings. Yes, it was old. "It's beautiful." She murmured in Bulgarian, before turning back to English. "Mine's much newer. It probably doesn't play as beautifully, but it plays good nonetheless." She turned it over, running her fingers over the emblem on the back, a look of confusion on her face.
"This mark, it looks so familiar. It looks like something my dad has showed me before. He told me something about it." She shook her head and handed him the violin back with extreme care. "Oh vell, it's probably not anything of importance that I remember, it's probably something totally different." She looked back at the boy, and smiled. "Sorry for the language svitch, it's only my second day at a school in England and I really must get used to British, othervise no one vill be able to understand me."

Jakob laughed and shrugged. He remember the first time he had been forced into learning a new language, one of the ones he still used at home frequently. "It gets easier as time goes by, i used to struggle with it myself, cause i had just learned to speak french and everyone thought i was from there" he laughed lightly, wondering if anything she said would get tangled up by speech.
He ran his fingers over the crest, smiling at it. The old crest of Olafsen, which then changed and changed and changed until they finaly stopped changing it a few centuries ago and Stevenson stuck. He laughed at the crazy forms that his name must have taken in past generations, making it impossible to track their family among the others on a wizarding tree.

If Victoria hadn't been so shy, she would have laughed. "Vell, Bulgarian has alvays been my main language. Of course, groving up in Bulgaria and having a father like mine, you learn other languages, especially ven you hang out with British children all the time." She shrugged, and she was quite suprised with herself, she never really talked to anyone this much, she had a reputation for being pretty shy.
"But Daddy thought transferring me here vould be safer, with my sister here and all. It is my last year though, so I have barely any time to make new friends." Like you'd be able to anyvay, she thought to herself. She shrugged again, and her mind wandered to that crest. She was positive she had seen it, positive it had been Viktor that had shown her. It had something to do with families she should and shouldn't stay away from.

Jakob nodded, it must have sucked to be transfered seventh year, he knew he could never do it. The likelyhood of him developing friendships in the last year of being schooled, that were stronger than the ones he had now? Impossible.
"Ill be your friend" Jakob mumbled out as he held his violin up again, playing a gypsy tune. Why shouldnt they be friends, she wasnt in slythern or she would have told him to buzz off, and the fact that she was from eastern Europe helped her case in his books. He liked the idea of having a friend that could speak a language other than English and French.

Victoria smiled up at Jakob. She was suprised, though. How had she made a friend that fast? It was different with people like Fred, or even James - she had known them since she was very little, so they were already friends by the time everyone started noticing how shy Ria was. But she had only met this Jakob what - five minutes ago? And they were already friends.
Maybe it had to do with how much they had in common. They both spoke a different language then most- and they both played the violin. "I'm Victoria, by the vay. I forgot to mention that." She laughed, and added "But most people call me Ria." She smiled up at him, delighted at the thought of a new friend.

Jakob smiles, she was the quiet type, the sort of person that was unnoticed, not unliked. Jakob had spent years in the back or front of the room watching people, listening to their gossip. He had only a few friends because he rarely trusted the people around him. Ria though, was from the east, a part of the world that still had a sense of honor attatched to it.
"Again Jakob, so do you have any other friends or enemys around here allready?" Sometimes the huffle wondered if it was easier to make enemies at this school than friends. He certenly had done so. Thinking about it made his violin hit a lower octave, down to what a viola or almost a cello sound like.

Ria thought about the question, waiting a moment before answering. "Well, I know a couple people, people that I've known since I was little. My older sister is here of course, she's my friend. And Fred Weasley, he's my bestfriend, he has been forever. Then there's James Potter." she laughed at his name before continuing. "He's one of my good friends, I guess, but, he can get a little creepy."
She hadn't talked to James in a while, not since the beginning of the summer, her last visit to the Potter home. He still had seemed to have that creepy crush on her that he had developed when they were like, five. Thinking about when they were five reminded fer of a girl that she used to hang out with, one that she had never liked. She was always the meanest kid at the big parties the Potters and Weasleys hosted. She was the only other kid Ria and Fred's age there, but they had generally ignored her, because of her attitude. "There was this one girl, when I was smaller." Ria said, concentrating on the girls face in her head, trying to pick out a name. "I don't remember her that well, but she was really mean to me and Fred somtimes. I'm not even sure if she goes to this school." The named popped into her head. "I remember now! Her name was Blair."

Jakob did not like where all this was heading. While he and Fred had never even shaken hands, Jakob knew James, and not in a good way. Potter had cast a spell on jakob that had ripped open his back, and scared it horribly. No he wasn't going to make any friends through her if she hung out with Potter.
Hearing the name Blair Jakob's ears perked. She hated James, possibly Fred to, it was possible that they were one in the same. "Blair smith, brown hair and eyes, thin, olivish skin?"

Ria thought for a minute, looking at the memory of the girl in her head. "Uhm.." Ria said, studying the picture in her head. "She was kind of a chubby little kid, actually, she hadn't lost her baby fat yet. But I imagine she has by now. Yes, on the brown hair and eyes. And..." She thought about the girl again, trying to remember who her parents were.
"Zacharias and Cho Smith. Those are her parents, so yes, Blair Smith." She looked up at Jakob, a confused look on her face. "Why, do you know her? So she does go here... I wonder if she's nicer now."

Jakob tried imagining Blair as fat, or even a baby, but couldn't. The look he gave when asked if she was nicer now was one of indifference. He wasn't going to tell Ria that Blair was his girlfriend, they didn't need to parade that knowledge around the school.
The main way a boy like him survived this school was through what appeared to be a limitless supply of indifference. He gave a gentle nod to her questions, one that didnt really say anything at what he meant. He was fantastic at reading people, and better at concealing himself. He began to play "canon" softly. Watching the ripples on the lake not to far off.
