She was so unaware of her own drifting at first. When Giselle got to thinking about something, she really got down to thinking. She'd mull over something, completely unaware of how much time would be passing. She could recall plenty of times where she thought she had only been thinking for a mere minute or two, and then gazed over at the clock to find out she had been in her own world for an hour! It took some shaking or some other sort of semi-rough physical contact for someone to get her out of her trances. Of course, a teacher or fellow classmate with a sharp voice could just as easily pull her out as a good jab or shake.
So she was fairly surprised when the soft touch of cold, velvet finger tips brought her to her senses. She knew she had said something about her thoughts, but she had simply been speaking them to the air around her. She had been very unaware that her head rested on the stomach of a gorgeous vampire, one that she would never have suspected to be one of the 'monsters'. She had to fight herself once again on going into her own thoughts as the word 'monster' flashed through it. She'd never be able to see Wes, the kind and gentle guy, as a monster, even if she had to watch him feed.
Her face relaxed to his touch, her eyelids becoming heavy. She willingly let the close, knowing that she wouldn't fall asleep on him. Giselle was far too aware of him now to let him slip away so easily again, though she wouldn't mind staying with him for hours... Though his hours were becoming limited by the damn sunlight. She almost felt a little angry at it.
"Nah. Couldn't be karma. I haven't got enough good karma saved up to get you, doll."
She had to laugh at that. He was always beating up on himself! Giselle knew that he probably had a few skeletons in his closet, just as she did, but she also knew that it wasn't the bigger things that ultimately decided how one's fate would turn out. Maybe he had done something terrible, like ravage a village or suck someone dry of blood, but he had also done thousands of little things to make up for all of that, hadn't he? He was in Hufflepuff and seemed like a good person all around. Wes seemed like he genuinely tried to be nice to people, even if they weren't so nice to him. Maybe he was always doing little things, like he was with her, to make someone's day brighten up or make their day a little bit easier. He was lightening her load just by listening to her ramble on about karma and fate.
"You do not know zat," Giselle said, a smile on her lips. She could still feel his touch lingering there, and the fact that it was still lingering there made her smile grow even bigger. "'Ow do you know zat zee leettle zings you do for someone else does not make up for zee bad zings zat 'ave 'appened in your life?"
She turned her head to the side once more, a lazy smile on her lips and her eyes sparkling bright with happiness. All her nightmares had been left behind and forgotten, put away for some other night, as she laid there with Wes.
