|| Jasper || { The Survivor} Jasper felt herself shiver almost violently as she entered the Hog's Head bar on the cold November night. Snow was falling in blizzard like porportions outside, preparing Hogwarts and the little town she was now in for the winter months.
She shook off the snow from her black coat, wiping it away with her red fingers and stomping off the calf lenth heeled boots she stole from her mother's closet. A scowl came to her face when she noticed that they were wet. Much like her hat, the only part of her outfit that was hers.
She felt ridiculous as she clomped across the floor and fell onto a bar stool, dropping her bag onto the ground beside her. She next fought hersel out of her coat and dropped it on the floor next to her. It was too warm in here to leave it on. But, she did keep on her hat over her ridiculous hair that her mother fixed for her, making her hair look only chin length and curled up in that forties style Sabbath loved so much. Ridiculous. That's how she felt.
Then there was this dress thing she had to fight herself into. It was a black skirt that was tight enough to be a corset and ended up reaching to just under her breasts. Below that was what felt like an oversized tee shirt with loose sleeves that made her feel anorexic.
Her knees were positively frozen because her boots weren't high enough and her dress wasn't long enough. She was in need of something warm. "Hot chocolate. Make it double Irish," she said to the crusty old bar tender with a very large mole on his temple that almost made her gag.
She would've gone to the Three Broomsticks, but that was a happy bar. And she wasn't happy.
She slid her hot chocolate closer to her, letting the steam coat her red nose as she fiddled with her unopenable silver locket dangling from her neck for a moment before sliding her engagement ring off her finger and turning it around carefully so she could read the inscription. All My Lovin',NJ.
You're so corny, King, [/i] she thought with a chuckle. the outfit: trial outfitcurrent mood: depressed [/blockquote][/size]

That red hat bobbed outside. It sat atop the mixture of colors only Astrid Longhorn would wear out in public. A red hat, blond hair, white snow, yellow pea coat with the brownish artificial fur hood, and blue jeans.
She was somewhat hunched, keeping her nose from the cold. Suddenly, she straightened in that cheery way, telling those around her that she had just realized something exceedingly obvious. She looked into the Hog's Head and as she had just now come to expect, she saw Jasper.
"No!" she moaned to herself. "She's moping again." She then dedicated herself to a lifetime mission. She would make Norma Jasper Black a happy person who didn't like being sad... tomorrow. As of right now, she would join her friend and discover the new - or the old in a new version - problem.
She ordered anything warm and caffinated and approached Jasper.
"What am I going to do with you?"

Jasper pulled on a half-smile as her old friend entered the bar. It was the least she could do. She'd been neglecting her friend for more dreary company that was the walls of her room. Skipping meal times and having food brought up. Going to see Mordred Deadlocke once. That she regretted. A lot, actually. She only remembered the fuzziest of details, but that was it.
She gave a sigh and dropped her head onto the bar. She was slowly being shattered into millions of peices. She could see it before her very eyes. Soon her whole life will be crashing down around her. She didn't need the stars to tell her that.
"What am I going to do with you?"
"Kill me now and I'll be eternally grateful," Jasper said, not raising her head. She didn't want to move. Didn't want to face things at the moment. Staying right here sounded really good for now. She kept her ring clutched tightly in one fist and her mug in the other. She didn't even care her hand was burning.

Astrid took pity on her friend, knowing that she wasn't wanting any company. Astrid stayed anyway.
"Let's fix your hair," she said, reaching for the pins and anything else that was keeping it up. Back in school, Astrid always fixed Jasper's hair whenever she was feeling bad. It worked both ways.
