Past»» [/b]
- We'll start at the beginning shall we? Isolde LaFleur was beautiful; intelligent and had everything going for her. She had an older sister who went by the name of Giselle and they were close with each other and also their family (who were considered high society and rich at one point). Unfortunately their father had a terrible gambling problem and thus betted away all of the family fortune; losing the estate and everything with it in the process. Isolde and Giselle were forced onto the streets; living from porch stoop to abandoned lots scattered about Paris, France. As a means of increasing their funds; to survive the cold streets; the beautiful pair of vivacious women resorted to prostitution to get by.
- Giselle left behind such a life when by chance she became pregnant with her first child; a baby girl that belonged to a rich man who worked for some type of prestigious company or ministry, and Isolde was green with envy. So in an attempt to leave behind such a wretched life, she began performing her 'practices' without any sort of protection and dug her grappling claws into a man named Pierre Delauney. As she planned she became pregnant with Pierre's child; little did she know that the man was almost unhealthily absorbed in his work. Isolde was neglected as a wife, though properly looked after and fed, but not happy. Near the end of her pregnancy she fled and claimed that she had miscarried the baby; not wanting the child to live with a man that was far too entangled in his profession. Isolde had her baby; a beautiful little girl who came out kicking and screaming at the top of her tiny lungs. Unfortunately she died during child birth and left the baby girl only with a name; Bliss Merle Shanelle Delauney.
- Bliss was placed in a grubby orphanage in the grungier areas of Paris and was in the care of very strict, authoritive maids whom she claimed sucked the fun out of everything. Bliss was expected to behave like a lady and it became clear around her preteen years that she was a spirited individual (to put it nicely). In reality the petite girl was a menace and one of the most disobedient children they'd ever encountered in their lives. In her early years her blasphemies were juvenile; drawing on the walls with crayons, stealing all the cookies out of the cookie jar and hoarding them under her bed, 'accidentally' leaving the taps running full tilt and flooding the bathroom. As she became older her misdemeanors had evolved more; out of spite stealing the maid's toothbrushes and scrubbing the toilets with them, shaving off her room mate's eyebrows while she slept and even going as far as substituting the supply of shampoos and soaps with blue hair dye!
- It should come as no shock that the impressionable preteen had discovered the magical world of drugs and became involved. Soon after she received a peculiar letter from an academy called Beauxbatons that stated she had been accepted into their education program but that hadn't been the puzzling part. The puzzling part had been the mention of being a witch!
- "I must be high." Bliss concluded after reading the letter through twice and then a third time just for confirmation. "Or 'dis is a brilliant joke!"
"Let me see that!" Snarled Helena, one of the more irritable maids that inhabited the orphanage. Bliss watched through a lazy, half-lidded gaze as the elderly woman began scrutinizing the letter. After a moment she sat back and crossed her arms over her chest, turning that harsh gaze on the girl. "You swear 'zat you did not write 'dis?"
"I 'ave scouts honor 'zis time." Bliss replied and raised her hand in a mock salute. The maid, however, paid little heed to her childish antics and ushered her along the hallway, muttering curses. A witch in their midst. Preposterous! This was a joke and one without humor, the child would be punished. - Shortly after receiving the peculiar letter an equally peculiar man; tall and gangly and fashioning the strangest attire; showed up on their doorstep, adopting Bliss without hesitation. As it turned out, Bliss was his daughter and the man that had adopted her was none other than, Pierre Delauney. After Bliss had received her acceptance letter into the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic he had gotten wind from the Ministry about it. Apparently they had been planning to have a wizarding family adopt her out of the muggle orphanage because the risk of Bliss exposing them was far too great without the proper guidance. That and the orphanage maids would know little of how to help a young with develop properly. Bliss had been just as surprised as Pierre to find out he hand family, but thrilled nonetheless, especially when she discovered how financially well-off Pierre was.
- So Bliss began her education at Beauxbatons and was as much of a menace there as she had been at the orphanage, perhaps slightly more irritable because of her addiction to muggle drugs and her lack of connections to smuggle them into the school. The returned home for holidays but had never really spent much time with Pierre on account the wizard was an esteemed inventor. He was indeed very ensnared by his work; trinkets were his mistress and he must heed their sweet call as he'd like to say.
- When Bliss turned thirteen she began to wonder if she had any other family besides Pierre and so had approached her father on the subject. As it turned out the girl had relatives on her mothers' side of the family who lived in England; an aunt, an uncle and two cousins. They arranged for Bliss to spend summer vacation with them that year and it was a summer the girl would never forget.
- Bliss clutched her travelling bags nervously as she stepped out of the fireplace; covered in soot after just using Floo powder as a means of transportation. A pale and elegant woman strode forward and cupped her face with both hands, gently kissing each of her charred cheeks.
"Oh it's so very wonderful to meet you, Bliss! I never knew I was an aunt until a few weeks ago when you contacted us! I'm Giselle!"
Bliss nodded, eyes wide. She was slightly nervous in this new environment. Everything was so clean and she had just strewn ashes all over their pristine and expensive looking carpets. She brought a hand up to twirl a lock of blond hair around her fingers; a habit she'd developed when put on edge. She listened quietly while Giselle introduced the rest of the family; Victor, Serenity and finally speaking with less enthusiasm, introducing Lovely Knight. Pink hair?
Giselle showed her to the guest room where she'd be staying; leaving her soon after so that she could have the space and time to adjust. Moments later, the pink haired girl came bursting through the door with her face lit up with many different levels of enthusiasm. Bliss had been surprised someone so tiny could look so larger than life!
"You have pretty blonde hair!" Lovely complimented her, springing forward and snatching one of the bouncy locks in her hands.
Bliss was taken back by her forwardness. "Erm thank you, yours 'eez... pretty too."
" -but you DO know what color would look even more fantastic?" Lovely paused for dramatic effect, "WHITE! It just so happens I have literally a million boxes of hair dye in my room! We can dye it now and-"
[/li][li]-and it was the start of a beautiful friendship and in a way, apprenticeship. Lovely Knight was the sister that Bliss never had and the two became very close. Lovely taught her the tactful art of pranking while Bliss - well, Bliss just followed along with everything the older girl said with big blue doe-eyes of fascination.
[/li][li]The rest of her life really held no significant value for her. She occasionally visited the Knights, had visited the inside of a cell in a muggle jail for committing various crimes on the streets of Paris, all unnoticed by her distracted father who would much rather bury his nose in his inventions then parent Bliss. She remained at student at Beauxbatons until the end of her fifth year. Through out the years the pompous, practical and very lady-like Headmistress had grown to despise Bliss because the girl had elected to be nothing like the rest of the debutante French beauties there. She was vulgar and rude, rebellious and irrational; everything the Beauxbaton girls aspired not to be. She was also a horrible influence on the girls and because she was street smart and had become involved in the muggle drug world; she dared introduce those drugs to the Headmistress' beloved students. Bliss was caught and busted for her blasphemy, using up the final straw of the Headmistress' gallant patience. She was expelled and much to her horror, her crimes were exposed to her father.
[/li][li]Pierre had been utterly horrified and ashamed that his daughter would take to the streets everyday and 'hustle' as a means to make money; especially since they were not lacking in material things or finances. He was embarrassed; not because of Bliss' rebellious nature, but because he had failed to be a proper father to her. The way she acted was a mirror reflection of his parenting so as a result the man began spending more time with his daughter. He learned that Bliss was a girl who craved adventure and excitement and soon enough their outings together became just that. Bliss was able to give up a man made, synthetic high for a more natural one but in the process had become addicted to the adrenaline rushes she felt everytime her life was put in danger. The summer that Bliss and Pierre spent together was chaotic and many of times Bliss had become injured due to some reckless act she did to provoke that addicting spark of adrenaline.
